SAFETY TIPS
Hail a radio taxi – indicated by the sign on roof and on doors. Radio taxis are generally considered safe. Also, don’t accept rides in older, beaten up taxis, the locals won't, so why should you. And, if it is hot, and the taxi has the windows open, don’t get in; wait for a radio taxi with the air conditioning turned on.
Know how far you are traveling as measured by blocks. Radio taxi drivers need to know the street address of your Buenos Aires apartment rental, which is always the street name first then the number – for example Bulnes 2559, or nearest cross street - for example Bulnes and Las Heras.
Always have small peso bills to pay the taxi driver, 20 peso bills and lower. A radio taxi driver will throw you under the bus if you try to pay the fare with a 50 or 100 peso note. Watch out for false bills given as change. Taxi drivers are known for passing fake bills.
A reputable Buenos Aires radio taxi company is:
Buenos Aires has six subway lines: A, B, C, D, E and H. Two subways lines are currently being extended and the H line, which is brand new and relatively short, is also being extended. The city government would like to expand the subway network, but due to political differences with the president those plans are on hold.
The Buenos Aires subway system is called subte by the locals. It is the oldest subway system in South America. The A line was built in 1918 and is considered a historical treasure and features original wood subway cars with turn of the century lamps.
Buenos Aires subways are very crowded during rush hour. They do not run 24 hours and are often subject to slow downs or complete shut down due to union protests.
Buenos Aires subte passes can be purchased in multiples of 5 or 10 trips and eliminate the hassle of standing in line at the ticket booth for each trip.

Customer Reviews March 3, 2010 We loved the location of apartment Libertad and because of the weather while we were in Buenos Aires (it rained a good bit of the time), we spent more time in the apartment than we originally anticipated. The location gave us access to a number of good restaurants that we could walk to. The apartment was in good condition and the electrical problem that we had was fixed as soon as possible. Augusto was delightful and very helpful. We would certainly rent from Argentina Consultant.com again, should we find ourselves back in Buenos Aires. Tilda K. - Atlanta GA |

January 15, 2010 We LOVED staying at apartment The Haven. Our only suggestion would be to leave a few cleaning supplies so that we could wipe down the bathroom and kitchen.
